Health officials know that COVID-19 can be transmitted through community spread, meaning you can still contract coronavirus even if you have not come into direct contact with someone sick. Even if you feel fine, even if you are not medically vulnerable, even if you don’t know anyone who’s sick, the best thing we can do for our neighbors, families, friends and fellow Denverites is to slow the spread. Stay home.

So, this week’s Things to Do list is a little different. All the activities in this list can be done online and remotely. If you need a distraction from your anxieties or if you want to help the Denver community with relief efforts-stay in bed, keep your slippers on, and don’t leave the house. We’ve got you.

Oh, and let us know of any events you’ve got cooking on the internets.

Community support: volunteer and donate

Denver Metro Emergency Food Network.

The Denver Metro Emergency Food Network has pledged to cook and deliver meals to low-income families and the elderly in need. Your support means additional meals for those whose food security has been threatened by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Help Colorado Now.

Help Colorado Now supports those who are at high risk for COVID-19 across the state. In addition to support through donations of money and supplies, they seek volunteers for a variety of roles, some of which can be done remotely, through the internet.

The Denver Foundation Critical Needs Fund.

The Critical Needs Fund grants COVID-19 emergency money to high-impact Denver nonprofits. They partner with organizations focused on homelessness, home insecurity, healthcare, food insecurity and basic family needs.

SciStarter.

Volunteer with citizen science based projects, many of which can all be done entirely online. With a wide range of topics, you can work on a project that matters to you.
